In Windows go to Start » All Programs » Apple Software Update.

The Apple Software Update screen appears with two updates. If you don’t have an iPhone you can uncheck that update. Click Install 1 Item.

Accept the License Agreement.

Then the update downloads and installs. Success! Safari is now up to date with version 5.1.1 – Click OK. With iCloud support, you can sync Safari Bookmarks and Reader articles between your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac and PC. To make sure Safari syncs to iCloud from Windows, you need to install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows.

The sync is virtually instant. Here’s an example of the Reader stories I added to Safari in Windows synched over to my iPad.

If you’re on a Mac, update OS X Lion to 10.7.2 which includes the Safari update.
