Here’s the short and sweet message Google posted yesterday on its blog: To start making free calls through Gmail, you need to install the Chat Widget. This is our way of helping you connect with friends and family across the country. And you can still call the rest of the world from Gmail at our insanely low rates. Google Voice is integrated into several of its services like Gmail and Google Talk, as well as mobile apps. In fact, if your flight has WiFi, you can make free calls from Gmail from the plane.
